Scripture:
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”
— 1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)
As Christians, we are not called to win arguments, but we are called to be ready.
Peter reminds believers that our first responsibility is to sanctify the Lord God in our hearts. In other words, Christ must hold the highest place within us. When our hearts are rightly centered on Him, something begins to happen naturally—our lives start to reflect a hope that others notice.
And when people notice hope, they ask questions.
Peter says we should be ready to answer that hope. This does not mean we must become scholars or master debaters. It simply means we should know why we trust Christ, why we believe His Word, and why our hope remains steady even when life is not.
Notice also the spirit in which we answer: with meekness and fear. Our responses should never be harsh, proud, or dismissive. Instead, they should reflect humility, respect, and reverence for God.
Sometimes the most powerful testimony is not a complex explanation, but a simple truth spoken sincerely:
“Christ changed my life, and my hope is in Him.”
The world is full of people searching for hope. When they see it in you, be ready.
Not with pride.
Not with arguments.
But with the quiet confidence that comes from knowing Christ.
A Simple Prayer
Lord, help me keep You first in my heart. Let my life reflect the hope I have in You. When someone asks why I believe, give me the words to answer with humility, grace, and truth. Amen.
